Direct CBD Online has all the best from this month’s CBD news roundup! Kroger is now selling CBD topicals at stores in 17 states, a new study suggests CBD may treat seizures in dogs, and more!
Grocery store chain Kroger has begun selling CBD topicals at its stores in 17 states, joining a growing trend of traditional corporate retailers who are embracing CBD products since hemp was federally legalized last year.
Kroger is joining other traditional retailers, such as Walgreens, CVS, Walmart and even Family Video in offering CBD products following the passage of last year’s federal farm bill. The company is sticking to topicals since the Food and Drug Administration has yet to approve adding CBD to dietary supplements, cosmetics, and food additives.
CBD has shown to be effective for treating seizures in people with certain forms of epilepsy. A new study from Japan now suggests the same benefits that come from CBD could extend to dogs through animal-specific products like a CBD Pet Tincture.
The findings, published in Pet Behavior Science, come from the Yamazaki University of Health. Three dogs who suffer from frequent epileptic seizures were included in the study. Researchers gave the animals small serving sizes of a CBD Pet Tincture twice each day for eight weeks. They also assessed the dogs every two weeks during the study.
Two out of the three dogs included in the study reported significant seizure reductions while using the CBD Pet Tincture.

Gary Wenk is doing research on how marijuana might be helpful in stimulating the aging brain. He is also researching how it might help to fend off dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
The primary focus of his research during the past 25 years was on the effects of brain inflammation. He spent many years testing experimental drugs from pharmaceutical companies; they all failed. Everything he’d ever tested failed to benefit the aged brain. Marijuana was the first drug that produced real positive changes in brain physiology and behavior.
Scientific inquiry into the impact of cannabis medicines on Alzheimer’s disease has gained momentum in recent years. The most recent findings presented at Neuroscience 2018 concluded that “Treating Alzheimer’s disease mice with the psychoactive compound found in marijuana improves memory and reduces neuronal loss, suggesting a possible therapy for the human disease.”
